Once, the stage was my world. As a college band singer, I reveled in the spotlight, always ensuring my look was as captivating as the music, adorned in an array of dazzling accessories—from woven fabrics to striking metal pieces. Yet, it was the understated elegance of pearls that truly captured my imagination.
It happened unexpectedly. A friend's full string pearl necklace caught my eye, its serene luster unlike anything I had adorned before. This encounter transformed my appreciation for accessories; pearls, previously unknown to me, became a new obsession. I began collecting pearl jewelry, each piece selected to reflect a different mood or complement a particular outfit.
Living in Zhejiang, I soon discovered I was in the heart of China’s freshwater pearl territory. This proximity fueled my curiosity, leading me to explore the very origins of these enchanting gems. I visited pearl farms, delved into museums, and attended exhibitions, immersing myself in the world of pearls.
This journey led me to a pivotal meeting with my future boss, who recognized my passion and introduced me to the art of clam opening. It was here that I found my calling, blending my love for performance with the delicate craft of revealing pearls.
